Who was Imi Lichtenfeld?

Emrech ‘Imi’ Lichtenfeld was the Hungarian born Israeli founder of the martial arts Krav Maga self-defence system. He was also known as Imi Sde-Or.

In the late 1930s, Lichtenfeld developed a system of techniques for practical self-defense in life-threatening situations to help defend his Jewish neighborhood against racist gangs.
